Camcar Plastics Achieves SBA HUBZone Certification

Camcar Plastics is proud to announce that we have achieved SBA HUBZone certification.

The HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) program was established by the U.S. Small Business Administration to promote economic development, investment, and job creation in historically underserved communities. It does this by giving small businesses located in these zones a competitive edge when it comes to federal contracting.

The federal government sets a goal of awarding at least 3% of all prime and subcontracting dollars to HUBZone-certified businesses every year. Government agencies and federal contractors are encouraged to work with HUBZone-certified businesses, and the HUBZone program helps direct these contracting dollars into areas where they can have a meaningful and lasting economic impact.

The certification means access to qualified domestic suppliers for agencies and contractors, while simultaneously helping support HUBZone and small business contracting objectives.

As a HUBZone-certified manufacturer, Camcar Plastics can now compete for these contracts — helping customers strengthen their supply chains while also contributing to the economic development goals at the heart of the HUBZone program.

What It Takes to Qualify for HUBZone Certification

A HUBZone certification is awarded only to businesses that meet strict eligibility requirements established by the SBA, including:

  • At least 51% ownership and control by U.S. citizens or other qualifying entities

  • Qualification as a small business under SBA size standards

  • A principal office located within a designated HUBZone

  • At least 35% of employees residing within a HUBZone

These requirements help ensure that the economic benefits generated through the program remain connected to the communities it was designed to support.

Benefits of Becoming a HUBZone-Certified Business

HUBZone-certified businesses have access to several federal contracting programs designed to increase participation by qualified small businesses, including:

  • HUBZone set-aside contracts reserved exclusively for HUBZone-certified firms

  • Sole-source contracting opportunities under certain conditions

  • A 10% price evaluation preference in certain federal procurements

These programs strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and support economic growth in underserved communities, in addition to helping federal agencies and prime contractors expand their supplier base.

Where We Operate

Camcar Plastics has operated in Muskegon, Michigan for more than 30 years. Today, our principal office remains within a designated HUBZone, and ~40% of our employees reside in HUBZone communities.

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to creating jobs, investing locally, and supporting the long-term economic vitality of West Michigan.

For government agencies and federal contractors, partnering with Camcar Plastics can help support the small business and HUBZone subcontracting objectives while receiving access to a responsive, U.S.-based plastic injection molding manufacturer with more than three decades of experience.

The HUBZone certification represents more than a contracting description. It’s a program designed to strengthen American communities, create economic opportunity, and expand access to qualified domestic suppliers.

Camcar Plastics is proud to support that mission while continuing to serve customers across the medical, aerospace and defense, industrial, and commercial markets.
